Cat Grooming

All Cats are groomed without sedation and with tender loving care.  If I believe your cat is too stressed out by the situation I may refer you to a vet for clipping under sedation.  Most cats can be clipped and bathed, some are even better with grooming than dogs.  I groom compliant cats only.

Cat Grooming is one on one.  Cats are only at the salon for their grooming times, no early drop off or later pick ups past 30 minutes to reduce stress to the cat.  I recommend you stay for at least 10 minutes for your cats first grooming.  Grooming takes approximately 30 minutes to an hour.

I will only groom cats with a good temperament and those that cannot be sedated due to medical reasons.  Cats are unpredictable so if I decide not to groom your cat it is because I can tell your cat is stressed or is going to be aggressive.  I need my hands for my career so I may use a muzzle or vet collar as I deem necessary.

Please bring your cats in separate carriers, as they may become aggressive towards each other post grooming, as they smell and look different.  I may not accept a cat for grooming if not in a carrier.

After your cat has been clipped you may notice he or she being unusually affectionate.  Grooming a cat gives them more time to play and less to groom and sometimes a new lease on life - others may hide for the first day or so, every cat is different.  Multi cat households are recommended to be kept separated for up to 1 night after grooming for their own scent to return.

I do bath and brush-outs, lion clips and comb cuts.  Please note clipping can change your cats coat.

When there is a flea problem & ring worm

I am proud to have high disinfecting standards for the prevention of disease.

I provide my own bath and towels except for in cases where there is a flea problem, then I ask you to bring your own towels.  In cases where ring worm is present, I cannot groom you cat as ring worm is highly contagious.  I can advise on the best way to get rid of ringworm.

All pet's must be treated for and free of parasites (flea's, tick's, lice, worms) before entering the salon.  If I spot fleas or ticks on your pet in salon before or during the bathing process I will apply Fido's Flea Shampoo in their bath for an additional fee of $10.

If you have concerns with worms, fleas or ticks I will advise you of the best way to protect your pets –

please see my Parasite Prevention and Control Guidelines

Safety

I ask that you leave me to the job and not get involved.  You may get scratched or bitten, if your cat is uncontrollable don’t take it personally.  If your cat is well behaved but just scared or wriggly, I may ask you to help hold kitty up and distract them from the clippers with tickles and scratches under the chin, this works a treat to getting the grooming done fast.  Regular monthly grooming is recommended to train your cat with grooming.

If I am unable to finish because of bad behaviour you will still be charged a booking fee of $40.  Please understand cats are unlike dogs as once lost their patience they cannot be talked around to be calm.  For the safety of the cat and myself as the groomer I recommend re booking in a week to train the cat.

Other important cat grooming information

Kitty Kit's are based on the cut only.  Other services included in the kit are complimentary and will be carried out if your cat is still coping ok.  This is to protect the stress levels in your cat as well as to protect myself from getting injured and to prevent a bad experience.  I recommend temporary regular grooming to train your cat with grooming.  I have much success with this training and I can discuss this matter in salon.  Please be patient, I can get many delays with cranky biting, scratching scared cats.  I love your cats so I will take my time.

My cat grooming routine is coat clipping first, then bathing if they are still well behaved, then towel drying, coat conditioning spray, nail clipping, and a 10 minute blow dry.  Blow drying is only done on well behaved cats for the safety of the pet and the groomer.  Bathing is complementary with all coat clipping.

All cats coats must be dry for coat clipping, if your cats coat is excessively oily/dirty he or she will need a quick bath the day before your clipping appointment.

I use only the best products for your cat.  I use a rinse free shampoo for the scaredy cats new to bathing to get them in and out of the bath without all the fuss.  I have suitable shampoos for those oily, dry, matted and double coated cats.  For those cats that don't do well with water I have specially formulated dry shampoos which attract oil and dirt to the powder for a quick fuss free bath.

Most cat's actually don’t hate water.  Sometimes they need help as they have difficulty removing excess build up of oils on the skin and coat, which can lead to knots and heavy matting.

Arthritic and overweight cats may also have difficulty reaching around to their back and tail, resulting in clumps of thick, hard fur in short and long-coated cats.

Bath and Towel Dry is the perfect maintenance option to keep your cat squeaky clean and smelling great.

Single Services Explained...

Take advantage of my single services if you only require one or two things and need to dash in and out!  Whatever your kitty's needs are, I can always accommodate.

Full Nail Clipping ...$15

Front only...$8

Back only...$8

I know that clipping your cat’s nails can be a tricky and stressful occasion.  Left untrimmed, long nails can cause your pet discomfort and lead to other complications.  I am experienced and on hand to professionally trim your pet's nails in a calm and reassuring environment.

Cats require nail clipping, with the frequency depending on their lifestyle.  Indoor-only cats will need more regular nail trims whereas outdoor cats may naturally wear their nails and require less frequent trimming.

Please note a nail clipping is included in all Kitty Kits.

Nail Capping...$50

Also known as soft paws, a fun, safe and pain free way to prevent your cat from shredding your furniture by sharpening and scratching their claws.

Nail caps come in a number of fun colours, both glittered and plain.  I carefully trim your cats nails to attach your cats nail caps, these are glued on with a pet safe glue.

Nail caps grow out naturally with your cats nails much like acrylic nails on humans, they last anywhere between 4-12 weeks.  For the first time cats, I wait around and watch their behaviour with the nail caps to assure they are not going to pull them off, surprisingly most cats leave them alone.

I only recommend nail capping on indoor cats, cats whom go outside need sharp nails to get out the way of predators, therefore I don't recommend capping their nails.  As cats do not sharpen their back nails on your furniture there is no need to cap their back nails.  A nail capping set only includes their front nails being done.

Toe Tuft Trim...$5

A gentle trim of knots or excess fur between your pet's paw pads, using gentle trimmer clippers.

Please note a toe tuft trim is included in all Kitty Kits.

Hygiene Clip...$20

The Hygiene Clip includes a close shave from under the cats tail to half way down the inside of its back legs.  Especially beneficial to medium to long-coated cats as they tend to mat quickly in friction areas such as between their hind legs.

Perfect every 10-12 weeks for keeping the important bits clean and the knots at bay.

Please note a hygiene clip is included in all Kitty Kits.

Full Belly Shave...$30

Half Belly Shave...$15

A Belly Shave is a close shave from inside your cat’s front legs down to in between the hind legs.  It’s a great option every 10-12 weeks for cats that knot or mat quickly.

The Belly Shave also helps to keep your cat cool during summer.  With a Belly Shave they can lie on tiles or concrete to cool themselves down without the plush coat on their belly trapping the heat.  I also offer a longer version for winter.

A Belly Shave is also visually appealing.  Unless your cat is lying on its back, you wouldn’t even notice its there.

Please note a full belly shave is included in Lion Cut Kits and Comb Cut Kits.

Additional Treatments Explained...

You can combine additional treatments with your Kitty Kit or Single Service.  Always feel free to ask and I am more than happy to help.

Beauty...$5

Pamper your cat with my beauty package.  I will moisturise your cat's paw pads with organic paw balm to deeply heal and nourish the skin, file all nails and finish off with a spritz of cologne.

Perfect for kitties that want that extra touch.

Medicated Shampoo...$10

A salon quality medicated shampoo is applied during the cat bathing process in salon to sooth and heal the skin.

Having an antifungal effect against bacteria, yeasts, moulds and fungi, this is an effective treatment of dermatitis and aids in the treatment of ringworm in cat's.

Flea and Tick Treatment...$10

I can help you with your bitey annoying flea and tick problems by applying Fido's Flea Shampoo in a warm bath for the recommended 5 minutes before rinsing off and drying thoroughly.  Fido's Flea Shampoo is a pleasant smelling, soap free shampoo containing a natural insecticide pyrethrin.  It controls flea's, tick's and lice on cats, dogs, puppies and kittens.

This flea bath is not a preventative.

Please note - if fleas are found on your pet in salon before or during the bathing process, this shampoo is required and will be applied for this additional treatment fee.

Flea Preventative

I use only the very best products recommended by vets for worming, tick and flea control.  I can also give you expert advice on how to rid fleas from your home and pets – see my Parasite Prevention and Control Guidelines.
